Reading Blog - 1984 Chapters 5-7

This week for 2 hours, I continued reading 1984 by George Orwell, from chapter 5 to 7. In chapter 5, we learn about the language of Oceania, which is Newspeak. In this chapter, Winston has lunch with Syme, who is responsible for the dictionary of Newspeak. Syme said that the government will destroy any words that could resemble rebelilous or independent. However, Winston belives that someday Syme is going to be killed because he is so inteligent. As we hit chapter 6, we see that the Party doesn't want any kinds of pleasure such as sex. Lastly in chapter 7, we see that Winston is think of a revolution and he wrote it down in his diary. He believes that not even a legendary rebellion force called the Brotherhood can't defeat the Party. In his diary, he believes that the proles which are the 85% of the population must come together and fight against the party. Later on, he also sees a person named O'Brien who he believes that they share similar passion for the rebellion. Through these chapters I'm foreshadowing that Winston will try to rebel and has the desire to do so.
